Director's Note
In Shakespeare’s Pericles, the young Fisherman asks the elder, “How do the fishies live in the sea?” The old man answers, “As men do on the land – the great ones eat up the little ones and never leave gaping till they have swallowed the whole parish: church, steeple, bells and all.” The young fisherman replies, “I should have been in the belfry, and he should have swallowed me too, then I would have been in his belly and made such a jangling of the bells that he should never have left till he had cast bells steeple, church, and parish up again.”
This production of Pericles jangles the bells for the little fish of Colorado. Long may these bells ring out and change the world.
