Funny As A Crutch
Start with a rich base of traditional sketch comedy. Add a dash of disability justice and sprinkle in a good amount of inclusion. Bake it at 350 degrees with a bunch of sardonic wit, and voila: you have Funny as a Crutch. Ten vibrant short plays tell stories such as a disabled woman being picked up for her first one-night stand, a young recruit who can’t understand why her prosthetic leg isn’t allowed in the army, and a lot more. This laugh-out-loud comedy skewers stereotypes picks apart prejudices and attacks assumptions about disability – from both outside and inside the community.
ADVISORY: Crude Humor
The Glorious World of Crowns, Kinks, and Curls
Following in the footsteps of Eve Ensler’s seminal work, The Vagina Monologues, The Glorious World of Crowns, Kinks, and Curls features a collection of monologues, scenes, and stories highlighting the special and sometimes complicated relationship between Black women and the way society views (and often regulates) their hair.
ADVISORY: Racism, sexism, and sexual assault
