Books and Lyrics By:

Music By:
George Stiles

Directed By:
Stacey D’Angelo

The season began with Honk! by George Stiles and Anthony Drewe, based on the Hans Christen Andersen story of The Ugly Duckling. Honk! follows the story of Ugly, a unique kind of fowl, as he strays from his home on the farm. He meets an interesting array of new friends, avoids the threat of a hungry Cat, and discovers that being different isn’t bad, it’s just…different.

Honk! was a collaboration between Japan’s Cue Arts and Phamaly Theatre Company, with support from the Nippon Foundation. Honk! featured two guest performers with disabilities from Japan, Ken Kanokozawa and Hiroko “Koji” Higashino. The cast and crew traveled to Japan in early February for two special performances at the Toshima-Ku Art and Culture Theatre in Tokyo.
