Welcome to Phamaly’s BIG NIGHT in the City!
Phamaly Theatre Company is proud to be a grassroots, Denver-based organization. What better way to “come back” from having to be distanced and apart than by celebrating Phamaly in the heart of the city we love?!?
Denver has a strong history in the Disability Rights Movement. In 1978 a group of activists, who became known as the Gang of 19, blocked the intersection of Colfax and Broadway – just beyond the Greek Theater – to protest the lack of accessibility on RTD buses. Just over a decade later, Phamaly was born when five friends with disabilities had the bold vision to create a theatre company where barriers to perform were lifted and disability was celebrated.
Now in our fourth decade, it is the heart and perseverance of our actors, volunteers, staff, and community that has transformed Phamaly from a small, amateur troupe into a professional powerhouse. We continue to forge a path as an organization where artists with disabilities of all kinds are welcomed and their uniqueness is approached through a lens of creativity and possibility.
Tonight, we come together – in person! – to celebrate all that Phamaly has accomplished in our 33 years as well as all that lies ahead in Phamaly’s future. As we continue to build Phamaly as the national leader in disability-affirmative theatre and to offer an unparalleled accessibility experience for every artist and audience member, we need your help. We want to keep theatre accessible to everyone, eliminating any barrier that gets in the way, including financial barriers. We need financial support from YOU – our audience, our donors, our family – to ensure we maintain both Phamaly’s accessibility and sustainability.
Please consider making a donation. Any and every amount is greatly appreciated.
We are thrilled to be partnering with Civic Center Conservancy, Civic Center Live, and the Bonfils-Stanton Foundation to bring you this unique event with three amazing acts – Christie Buchele, Jeffrey Marshall, and Wheelchair Sports Camp. We are grateful for these incredible artists to be celebrating Phamaly with us. We would also like to give a big thank you to our sponsors, board, volunteers, and staff who have made Phamaly’s BIG NIGHT! possible. Now, please take a minute to soak in downtown and enjoy an evening of good music, good people, and good vibes.
